Properties of light:

  • Light travels in straight lines.


  • Light can be reflected off some objects.


  • Light can be blocked. A shadow is formed when light is completely or partially blocked by an object.

 

3 ways to increase the size of a shadow when an object is placed in between the light source and a screen:

  • Move the light source nearer to the object.

Different degree of transparency:

  • Transparent objects allow all or most light to pass through.

  • Translucent objects only allow some light to pass through.

  • Opaque objects do not allow light to pass through.
