MR EPHREM CHONG (FOUNDER & CURRICULUM PLANNER)
took the triple science combination for GCE “A” Levels in NJC where he obtained 4As in Physics, Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics. He earned a Master’s Degree from NUS and then a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from NIE specialising in Mathematics and Science, with distinctions for Topics in Physical Science and Biological Science for Primary Science Teaching.
He was assigned to be a teacher in Raffles Girls’ Primary School, then selected to teach science in the Gifted Education Program in Henry Park Primary School. Under the Gifted Education Branch, he was trained in cutting-edge teaching pedagogies from prestigious international educators, including the E2K Science Program from the Israel Centre for Excellence through Education.
Mr Chong is an experienced science tutor, having taught the subject for more than ten years. As the lead educator, he designs well-crafted worksheets and experiments to make learning fun and engaging for students at Science Studios. He also guides his team to create interesting and challenging questions that are relevant to school exams and the PSLE.
MS CALLA (SCIENCE STUDIOS ONLINE CURRICULUM PLANNER)
graduated with a Master’s Degree in Architecture from NUS as one of the top students in her cohort, with a high distinction in her final Thesis. She has years of experience in tutoring, with many of her students achieving a significant jump in grades under her guidance. She is the key editor behind the Science Studios Online Programme and is part of the founding team of Science Studios.
Her other working experiences prior to co-founding Science Studios include architectural design work as well as research work with the Centre of Urban Greenery and Ecology where her research focus was on the integration of flora/fauna with the built environment and she was the editor of the book “Vertical Greenery for the Tropics”. Her experience in Biological Science (Nature) and Physical Science (Built environment) help to enrich the lessons she plans at Science Studios.
MS MANDA (SCIENCE SPECIALIST TUTOR)
graduated from NUS with a Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences. Her studies has given her a strong foundation in Science. She has years of teaching experience and helping students improve their grades. She is a patient and caring teacher, who never fails to build an excellent rapport with her students.
She has a love for science as well as a strong passion to help students develop an interest in learning. She believes that the teaching philosophy of incorporating hands-on learning and explorations during Science lessons will go a long way in helping children learn and retain knowledge beyond school examinations.
MR DENNIS (SCIENCE SPECIALIST TUTOR)
graduated from NTU with Bachelor of Engineering. He furthered his studies at NIE (PGDE) specialising in Physics and Mathematics and taught Science at Lower Secondary level, Physics and Mathematics at Upper Secondary Level.
He has a passion for science and throughout his teaching career he has been actively involved in science projects to captivate students and promote active learning. He is patient and observant to the learning behaviour of different students. He understand all students learn differently and he is always exploring innovative methods to suit their learning needs.
MR BANI (SCIENCE SPECIALIST TUTOR)
graduated from NTU with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Chemistry and Biological Chemistry with Distinction. He took the triple science combination for GCE “O” Levels and has an aptitude for science. He helped to create educational science videos and coordinate a Science Week filled with exciting experiments for his S*STAR (Society for Science Training and Research) CCA in junior college to promote interest in science. Bani is also an avid bird watcher and spends his time as a casual photographer of the nature parks.
He wants to inspire students to do their best in science and take a keen interest in the fundamental mechanisms of our natural world and to inculcate good behaviour in them.
MS GERMAINE (SCIENCE SPECIALIST TUTOR)
graduated from NTU with a Bachelor of Science (Hons). She has had a keen interest in sciences since young, because it intrigued her that everyday phenomena such as lifeforms, weather and motions can be explained by scientific processes. Her inclination to the sciences led to study Chemistry at university.
She is dedicated to helping students enjoy the process of learning science by relating scientific concepts to everyday life. She believes in student-centered strategies to engage students as well as fostering independent thinking.
MR FADLI (SCIENCE SPECIALIST TUTOR)
graduated from NTU with a Bachelor of Science (Edu) and majored in Biology. He also holds a Diploma in Biomedical Science. Fadli has years of teaching experience and taught a variety of students in different Science topics.
He is keen in guiding students to understand how science is connected to every part of students’ lives in fun and engaging manner. He also hopes to help nurture students to develop good ideals, character and behaviour in all aspects of their lives.
MR CHUA (SCIENCE SPECIALIST TUTOR)
graduated from NTU with Bachelor of Engineering. He has a diverse background that spans both engineering and education. Having previously worked as an engineer, he has gained valuable skills in problem-solving and a keen understanding of the sciences. He also has experience of tutoring Primary School Science for more than 5 years.
Chua is committed to instilling a love for science and promoting lifelong learning in his students while drawing from his engineering and tutoring experience to make science accessible and exciting.
MS SARAH (SCIENCE SPECIALIST TUTOR)
graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Life Sciences and a minor in Public Health from NUS. Her love for science communication flourished through her active participation in the Young Educators in Science (YES) programme, where she dedicated over 60 hours to outreach and teaching, building on her extensive primary-level tutoring experience.
Her fascination with nature and wildlife, sparked by NatGeoWild during her childhood, led her to work with various animals, from shelter dogs and birds to sheep and dolphins. Known for her patience, fun approach, and keen observational skills, she strives to inspire a love of science in her students. She believes in empowering them to embrace failure as the wisest teacher, fostering a mindset of resilience and self-belief.
MS MAISARAH (SCIENCE SPECIALIST TUTOR)
graduated from NTU with a Bachelor of Engineering in Materials Engineering. Having a keen interest in Science, she built an early foundation in the Science field even prior to university studies, with a Diploma in Materials Science and was awarded the Student Research Programme Award.
She seeks to inspire students not only to do well but also to enjoy and appreciate science around us. She believes in providing a fun and engaging learning environment for students.
MS ERICA (SCIENCE SPECIALIST TUTOR)
graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Microbiology. Her passion for science started in secondary school, leading her to pursue a Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science where she developed a strong foundation in Biology and Chemistry and also gained teaching experience as a teaching assistant.
She aims to encourage students to enjoy learning, and to inspire a love and appreciation for science and its fascinating aspects.
MS NABILAH (SCIENCE SPECIALIST TUTOR)
graduated from NUS with a Bachelor of Engineering in Engineering Science. She always had a strong love for Science since secondary school. This eventually led her to pursue H2 Physics and H2 Chemistry in junior college.
She aims to encourage students to develop their love for Science too. She is willing to help and guide each student so that they can continue to pursue further studies in various Science fields just like her.
MR MEN SHU (SCIENCE SPECIALIST TUTOR)
graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He’s a hands-on enthusiast who loves tinkering with gadgets and exploring how things work. With experience in developing sustainable composites, he’s passionate about making science both fun and relevant for young learners.
He aims to spark a genuine interest in science in children. He believes in learning through engaging, practical activities that make complex concepts easy to understand. His goal is to inspire curiosity and a love for discovery, helping students build a solid foundation in science while enjoying the journey.
